John Devitt, President

John Devitt, President John moved from Vancouver Island in 1987, and worked in the hotel industry. He joined the Kinsmen Organization, and eventually sat on the Board of Directors in Kamloops as President. He was instrumental in the creation of the group SOS (Spouses of Survivors), in conjunction with the Kamloops Mental Health Society. John was an active volunteer with the Kamloops Air Show Society, working his way up to Deputy Security Director on the Board of Directors. He was also an active volunteer in the creation of the first Kamloops Community Policing Office, working closely with the local RCMP. He also has been involved locally and regionally on Boards and Major Event councils with the Society for Creative Anachronism. In early 2000, John left the hotel industry and working in warehousing and logistics, which eventually led to his 10 plus year affiliation with Big Brother Big Sisters of Kamloops (now Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central & Southern Interior of BC). In 2020, John brought his vast knowledge of Board stewardship to bear with NHASS, first as a member, and now as President of the Board of Directors.

Carol Taplin, Secretary

Carol Taplin, Secretary, NHASS Carol Taplin is a retired resource teacher who taught in Chilliwack for over 25 years. . She was introduced to New Heights through Patricia Kennedy who she worked with in the Chilliwack school district.

When she is not working on the New Heights Board, Carol enjoys going for walks, biking, reading around a campfire and doing many crafts such as knitting, and quilting.

Jennifer Potts, Board Member

Jennifer Potts, Board Member, NHASS Jennifer was the Treasurer of the Board for the past year, as well as the Bookkeeper and social media coordinator. This year, she takes a step back as she hands the reins of Treasurer to Betty Beier.

Jennifer has served on several boards, as well as bookkeeper and office administrator for the past 20 years in Kamloops. She continues to work with another not-for-profit in Kamloops, as well as running her own bookkeeping business.

She enjoys time at home with her two dogs and is very active with her family and life partner.
